LIBBACOTTEN4EVER :: Erez Dessel and I play Elizabeth Cotten’s music as an electric bass and piano duo. some songs are abstracted or reimagined and some we play pretty much straight up and down. some songs are played along with beats we made and some are played without any other accompaniment. SOLO :: I play solo upright bass with various implements and improvise music based around sensations of momentum, air, growth, textures course and fine, and manipulated passage of time. THWARTET :: Sarah Clausen, Erez Dessel, Lily Finnegan and I play as THWARTET, playing mostly original music. Thru-lines in the repertoire include rhythm modulation, new approaches to form, and free improvisation framed within pre-determined structures.
